A Message from the
Chairman
We owe much of
our pride and happiness as Bay Area residents to the capacity for innovation of
earlier residents. They generated new models of transportation, secured a water
supply, built urban parks, created service and financial industries to replace
jobs disappearing from the manufacturing sector and visualized a new industry
based on DNA technologies.
If we, the current inhabitants of the Bay
Area, are to be appraised positively by subsequent generations of residents, we
too must hone our innovative skills and optimize our ability to convert
innovative thinking into benefits for society.
Fostering and capturing innovation
is BASICs primary goal.
Dr. Regis B.
Kelly
